Humanist, entrepeneur, musician, poet,

technically challenged wannabe geek

Born 1953 in Charing Cross Hospital when it was still actually in Charing Cross, moved to rural Essex as a small boy and spent 9 years living between a farm and a C of E church yard. Moved to a more urban setting as a teenager when my mother remarried.

Left school at 16 having stayed on for 5th year, achieved several ‘O’ levels and the offer of a place in the county orchestra.

First job in the City as a clerk in an import/export firm, quickly tired of the sheer stuffiness and left after a year to seek more rewarding work. Moved back to London (Chalk Farm) in early 70’s and undertook a variety of temporary positions largely to help finance work as a semi-professional musician. These included work as warehouseman/storekeeper, clerical/office work, fibreglass design and construction engineer.

Found myself in the motor trade and discovered a talent for Sales. Quickly moved on in my new found career that was to last for the next 16 or so years. This took me through various positions of responsibility that included, Sales Manager at a Renault Dealer in Chelsea, Fleet Sales Manager then General Sales Manager at Cooper Park Lane Lexus and Toyota where I set up an Export department, Group and Corporate Sales at a multi-site Volvo dealer group straddling North and West London.

In 2001 I joined a city recruitment consultancy which I later bought and ran as Managing Director employing 5 consultants. In 2007, I decided to restructure and closed the city office. I now work as an independent recruiter. I provide permanent, contract and interim staff for a multitude of clients from widely diverse backgrounds. Other areas of expertise include, search and selection, human resources, training and consultancy.

I’m married with one grown up daughter, my interests include business networking, fine wine, malt whiskey, music, literature, art and philosophy.

I am a member of the lay Buddhist movement, ‘Soka Gakkai International’ a global organisation comprising 12 million+ members based on the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin, which promotes peace, culture and education.
